Across the country Adult Social Care Services face familiar challenges of exponential growth in demand from service users, with ever more complex needs. This is exacerbated by significant reductions in the overall financial envelope Councils have to operate within.
Huge effort is made every day in Adult Social Care (ASC) environments to keep ahead of the demand curve and manage its budget. Challenges and pressures means ASC must be able to utilise data assets to generate insights that support the running and improvements within its service, and improve the lives of citizens in its care.
In 2020 the Bristol City Council’s Data and Insights Transformation Programme put the swift development of quality ASC analytics at the forefront of a Council wide investment in becoming an exemplary data-driven and digitally enabled Local Authority.
As part of a wider engagement itelligent-i was commissioned to close the insight gap across all key ASC functions as quickly as possible. Watch as Bristol explain their journey, and how analytical insights have transformed their working practices:
This successful programme was achieved by working with the Council’s ASC delivery, transformation, and finance experts, and implementing and modifying itelligent-i’s Power BI Analytics Accelerators for ASC. Data is consumed from the Microsoft Azure based itelligent-i Data and Analytics Platform (iDAP).
The combined toolsets, and itelligent-i’s methodology and approach, provides a secure and automated suite of interactive visual insights across 7 key ASC services and functions. The analytics have been made directly available to service leadership and operational staff, and align with data policies and governance.
itelligent-i’s ASC Analytical Accelerators present easy to consume descriptive and diagnostic insight that allow filtering and drill through by the Service staff, enabling individuals or teams to analyse problems and gain answers themselves. The insight also provides an analytical focus on better enabling performance improvement and transformation of service practices. In addition to delivering the ASC Accelerators a bespoke analytical view of all activity and spend across the ASC was also provided, as well as a bespoke automated budget forecasting.
Bristol City’s ASC teams have immediately adopted the new analytical insights into daily practice. The insight is enabling data-driven decision making in commissioning and delivery.
